The SPTO's international activity remains on trackThe international presence of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) in the different forums and organizations in which it participates and of which it is a member plays a very important role in our daily activity. Defending Spain's interests and collaborating with our environment in the field of Industrial Property (IP) is one of our priorities. This is reflected in the Strategic Plan 2025-2027, where one of the main objectives to be achieved is the reinforcement of leadership and the strengthening of cooperation, both nationally and internationally. During this month, the work in pursuit of international cooperation has been very intense. We received a visit from a delegation from the Korean Intellectual Property Office (KIPO) to strengthen the good relationship we have between the two institutions and explore new avenues of collaboration. Relations with South Korea, one of the world's leading countries in terms of innovation and with which Spain maintains solid trade relations, offer great opportunities for our country's companies. We also welcomed a delegation from the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), as part of a tour of Europe by representatives of this African organization, including the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) and several national offices of EU Member States. AfCFTA seeks to establish an Industrial Property ecosystem in Africa for the registration and administration of the different IP rights. From the SPTO we wanted to contribute our knowledge and experience to help achieve this goal. Thus, representatives from the African continent had the opportunity to learn about our structure and organization and the work we carry out in relation to the different types of IP rights granted and the services provided to companies and citizens. Finally, we have signed a joint Work Plan with our neighbors of the Portuguese National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI) for 2025. This agreement is a further step towards the consolidation of a solid and productive cooperative relationship for the benefit of both institutions.
