Published the report "The SPTO in figures 2023"You can now consult the Report “The SPTO in figures 2023” which includes statistical information on activities related to industrial property protection, offering a quick consultation of data on inventions (patents and utility models), distinctive signs (trademarks and trade names) and industrial designs. In 2023, a total of 1,455 patents and 2,807 utility models have been applied for. In both cases there has been an increase with respect to 2022, mainly due to the increase in PCT applications in the national phase. This increase has also occurred in the case of applications related to trademarks and trade names. Specifically, trademark applications grew by 7.8% with respect to the previous year, with 48,773 applications for trademark recognition and, in the case of trade names, there were 15,124 applications, representing a growth of 21.5%. There was an even greater increase in the number of applications for protection of industrial designs. There were 14,590 applications, 33.6% more than in 2022. The report also breaks down the data on applications by Autonomous Communities, gender, applicant entity and sector.
