World Intellectual Property DayApril 26 is World Intellectual Property Day and once again this year the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (SPTO) did not want to miss the opportunity to celebrate it, together with the Ministry of Culture. Under the slogan chosen by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to commemorate this day: "Intellectual Property and the Sustainable Development Goals: our common future is forged with innovation and creativity" an event took place at the National Archaeological Museum (MAN). In addition to the opening remarks, two round tables were held throughout the day. The first, led by the Ministry of Culture, focused on SDG 3 "Health and Well-being" and SDG 4 "Quality Education", with members of different associations from these spheres, health and education. The second roundtable, led by the SPTO, dealt with the role that Industrial Property can play in the areas of innovation, gender equality and sustainability, all of which are closely related to different SDGs. In addition to the director of the SPTO, who moderated the roundtable, entrepreneurs and researchers also took part, sharing their experiences and enriching the debate from different points of view. The conference was inaugurated by the Secretary of State for Culture and, in addition to the aforementioned Director of the SPTO, the Director General for Cultural Rights of the Ministry of Culture also participated. The day fulfilled its ultimate purpose, which was none other than to disseminate the work that industrial and intellectual property rights play in promoting innovation and creativity for the promotion of human progress and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
