Update of the electronic application for opposition and other trademark and trade name renewal procedures

We have renewed some of the SPTO's procedures in order to make them more accessible to citizens. The renewal of these procedures for distinctive signs involves very important improvements in terms of usability and accessibility for citizens, providing assistance in the completion and control of errors in the application process.

The procedures that have been updated are:

• Opposition to a trademark or trade name
• Other trademark and trade name renewal procedures.

In particular, the opposition procedure has undergone a substantial change, eliminating the need to provide form 4104 for opposition to the application for registration, and integrating the entire application in a web form, controlled and with aids for completion, both for national trademarks and trade names, as well as for international trademarks.

Access to these procedures will continue to be made from the same location in the menus of the SPTO's electronic headquarters.
