The SPTO in the Open Administration Week

Have you ever been curious to learn more about a ministry or official body? The Open Administration Week arose to try to respond to these concerns. From March 21 to 24, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (SPTO) has celebrated the open Administration week. This initiative, promoted worldwide by the Alliance for Open Government (Open Gov Week) pursues the objective of bringing public administrations closer to citizens, based on the principles of transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and collaboration. For this, open days, exhibitions, round tables and guided tours are organized.

The SPTO has participated in it through activities related to the documentary collections that it safeguards in its historical archive.

Two exhibitions have been held within this framework. The first one, at the SPTO headquarters itself, on the milestones in the Office's history and its previous names, inventors and inventions.

The second exhibition, which took place in the hall of the Industry Ministry building, consists of panels of inventions from the Historical Archive that represent inventions registered in Spain during the 19th century focused on aspects of daily life.

The week was completed with the possibility of visiting the historical archive. Original documents of great value and fragility are kept in this archive and therefore cannot be shown to the public on a regular basis.

In addition, the SPTO participated in the round table "What does the Ministry offer university students?” in which they discussed the different possibilities for the future offered by the Ministry and its organizations to university students.
