Appointment made within the Patents and Information Technology Department

On April 21, 2010, Mr. Javier Vera Roa took the post of Director of the Patents and Information Technology Department.

Mr. Javier Vera Rosa is an Aeronautics Engineer and works as a civil servant within the General State Administration, specializing in Industrial Property. He initially began in the aeronautics industry, having later joined the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office as patent examiner, and worked as Director of Industrial Services Techniques and Area Director of Patents for Applied Mechanics.

He has participated in expert work groups in the technical areas of industrial property, both within the SPTO as well as abroad, and where he carried out work in Patents activities in Spain and Latin America. He has also represented the SPTO at several European and international forums, mainly those related to the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT).
