Creation of the SPTO Electronic Head Office

On March 16, 2010, the Resolution dated March 9, 2010, which establishes the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office Electronic Head Office, was published in the Official State Bulletin (BOE). The Electronic Head Office has been operating in accordance with the single final rule of the Resolution itself, since March 17, allowing applicants access to all SPTO procedures and electronic services through one single electronic access point, as set forth in Law 11/2007 on June 22, for electronic access by citizens to Public Services.

Additionally, the Resolution oversees some components of the publication of the 'Official Bulletin of Industrial Property (BOPI)' at the Electronic Head Office, by introducing users to basic elements concerning the way it operates.

The creation of the Electronic Head Office took place before the expiration of the timeframe established by the fourth final rule of Royal Decree 1671/2009, dated June 22, for electronic access by citizens to Public Services.

By creating this Electronic Head Office, the SPTO goes one step further in its commitment to get closer to applicants and improve the services it offers, as set out in the first Strategic Plan for Promoting Industrial Property, Plan PI , presented on March 9, 2010 by the Minister of Industry, Tourism and Commerce.
