A biodegradable composite comprising: a biodegradable polymer of biodegradability of 80-95% measured according to a biodegradability test of ASTM D6400 - 19 standard, wherein the polymeric matrix of the biodegradable polymer may have a tensile strength of 30-45 MPa and an elastic modulus of 2600-3600 MPa; a bio-derived fiber with a tensile strength and an elastic modulus greater than that of the polymeric matrix, the fiber infused with a bio-derived wax to have a surface energy of 45-50 mJ/m2, the fiber with average diameter of 20-30 µm and average length of 15-20 mm. The preferred embodiment uses beeswax treated hemp fibers with poly-3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3- poly-3-hydroxyvalerate (PHBV). The composite can be formed into a container. A method of producing said composite comprises wetting the bio-derived fiber with a wax emulsion, infusing it, then fusing said wax infused bio-derived fiber with the biodegradable plastic. The composite may exhibit a water contact angle ≥ 90 degrees. The biodegradable plastic may be one of or a mix of poly-3-hydroxybutyrate (P3HB), poly-4-hydroxybutyrate (P4HB), poly-3-hydroxybutyrate-co-4-hydroxybutyrate (P3HB-co-4HB), poly-3-hydroxybutyrate-co-3- poly-3-hydroxyvalerate (PHBV), poly-3-hydroxybutyratehexanoate (PBHH), polylactic acid (PLA), thermoplastic starch (TPS), polycaprolactone (PCL), polybutylene succinate (PBS), polyglycolic acid (PGA), poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA), polybutylene adipate terephthalate (PBAT), polyvinyl alcohol
