WIPO, AECID and SPTO Regional SeminarsIn June we participated in two Regional Seminars organized jointly with the Spanish Agency for Development Cooperation (AECID) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). From June 10 to 14, the "XX Regional Seminar on Intellectual Property for Judges of Latin America" was held. The seminar was attended by numerous judges and experts in intellectual property from Spain and Latin America. They exchanged experiences and cases on the latest judicial trends in patents, utility models, trademarks, industrial designs and copyrights. Participants came from Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Colombia, Cuba, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay. The speakers at the Seminar were judges and IP experts of all those countries. The seminar took place in a relaxed and fruitful atmosphere that gave rise to in-depth legal discussions on the latest trends in Industrial and Intellectual Property. A few days later, from June 18 to 21, the "III Regional Seminar on distinctive geographical signs: geographical indications and their relationship with trademarks, collective marks and guarantee or certification marks" was held. Participants included personnel from national intellectual property offices, public administrations and regulatory bodies of Latin American countries and teaching professionals from the scientific and technical fields.
