Elisa Rodríguez, new director of the Spanish Patent and Trademarks Office (SPTO)Since June 12, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office has a new director: Elisa Rodriguez Ortiz. Elisa Rodríguez knows the SPTO very well, as until then, she had held the position of head of the SPTO's Management Support Unit. She had also been a member of the Board of Directors of the European Patent Office (EPO) and had been Spain's representative to the World Intellectual Property Organization. After her appointment, the new director said that she intends to continue moving towards a more sustainable, innovative, digital, transparent and efficient Office. She will face important challenges ahead, such as the approval of the new Strategic Plan of the SPTO, those arising from the implementation of the new Community regulations on industrial designs and geographical indications of artisanal and industrial products or the diplomatic conference for a new international treaty on designs. Elisa Rodríguez has extensive experience in the State Administration. She belongs since 2010 to the Senior Corps of Civil Administrators of the State and has held various positions of responsibility in the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism, the Ministry of Science and Innovation and the Ministry of Culture.
