Open Government Week is successfully celebrated

As in previous years, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office has joined the celebration of Open Government Week.

Open Government Week is a worldwide initiative promoted by the Open Government Partnership to bring public administration closer to citizens and promote the principles of transparency, accountability, citizen participation, public integrity and collaboration. In addition, this year the initiative has more relevance since Spain will co-chair from October 1st the Executive Committee of the Alliance and will organize the celebration of the IX Open Government Global Summit.

Thus, from June 11 to 13, guided tours were organized to the premises of our Historical Archive in which documents of high historical, informative and visual value related to the revolutionary changes that took place in Spanish society in the mid-nineteenth century were shown. Most of these documents have a visual component that is rare in documents from other countries and include highly technical drawings describing the inventions and their movements. Among these documents, we preserve the files of the first royal privileges for inventions or for the introduction of inventions already existing in other countries such as diving equipment or balloons. The first invention privilege was granted on May 26, 1826 to the French citizen Jean-Marie La Pierre to introduce a mechanical flour mill moved by arm.

These visits have been held with great success in terms of public attendance, thanks to all of you who have participated! We look forward to seeing the rest of you next year.
