World Intellectual Property Day: Slogan and Video Contest

On 26^th April we celebrate World Intellectual Property Day. It was in 2000 when the Member States of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) chose this date to commemorate the entry into force of the WIPO Convention on April 26^th , 1970.

The primary purpose of this day is to publicize the work of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) in fostering innovation and creativity for the promotion of human progress and a better future.

 In 2024, the theme chosen by WIPO is "IP and the SDGs: Our Common Future is shaped by Innovation and Creativity". The way we live and work must be rethought to achieve a common future and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

To this end, WIPO also urges Member States and other organizations to create their own campaigns in this regard in order to convey specific and useful information to their users.

This year, one of the activities is the World Intellectual Property Day 2024 video contest for young people.

Participants must show in a 60- to 90-second video how individuals or nearby local communities are shaping a better future for society through innovation, creativity and good use of DPII.

The deadline for video submissions is January 8 through March 10, 2024.

The winning videos will be announced on World Intellectual Property Day, April 26, 2024.
