IPC Publication 2023.01 in SpanishThe International Patent Classification (IPC) is a hierarchical patent classification system using symbols. This system, sponsored by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is used in more than 100 countries to classify the content of patents uniformly, according to the different technical sectors. Organizing information about inventions in this way, into indexable and manageable structures, facilitates searches and allows easy retrieval of information. The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (OEPM) has recently published on its website the new version of the International Patent Classification (IPC) translated into Spanish, and accessible through the following link: IPC 2023.01 in Spanish The IPC is subject to continuous review, and an updated version of it is published every year. This version goes into effect on January 1 of each year. The main novelty of the 2023 version is the creation of a new class H10 SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICES; SOLID STATE ELECTRICAL DEVICES NOT ELSEWHERE PROVIDED FOR. This new class is created to progressively transfer the entire content of the H01L subclass. In this 2023 edition, the first three subclasses are published: H10B ELECTRONIC MEMORY DEVICES [2023.01] H10K SOLID STATE ORGANIC ELECTRICAL DEVICES [2023.01] H10N SOLID STATE ELECTRICAL DEVICES NOT OTHERWISE PROVIDED [2023.01] On the other hand, the following subclass is created: B64U UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES [UAVs], DRONES; EQUIPMENT FOR THE PURPOSE [2023.01] The updated version, along with previous versions up to 2017, can be found at the link CIP en español. Also available is an Archivo with version history. The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) publishes the two Original versions both in french and english, and some National Offices prepare and publish the full text of the IPC in other languages, also accessible through the same publication.
