The SPTO participates in the Transfiere Forum 2023

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (SPTO) has participated in the twelfth edition of the Transfiere  Forum, European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation, held in Malaga from February 15 to 17.

This Forum is one of the main meeting points for the innovation ecosystem in southern Europe, its objective being to promote the transfer of science and technology, as well as cooperation between the scientific and business sectors.

Throughout the three days of Transfiere, SMEs, entrepreneurs and start-ups presented their products and services to large technology-demanding companies. The Forum had the participation of more than 4,300 professionals, more than 500 companies, entities and public administrations and 420 national and international speakers. In addition, the awards ceremony for scientific journalism was held, which were created with the aim of giving visibility to the work and impact in society of the media and journalists.

As in past editions, the SPTO is part of the Organizing Committee of this fair. Likewise, the organization acts as a jury in journalism awards and participates in various conferences and panels related to industrial property. Among others, it is worth mentioning a Patent Search Workshop given by professionals from the Office, a meeting with Technological Platforms and a round table on Generation of business opportunities: industrial property and use of patents, moderated by the Director of the Department of Patents and Technological information.

The inauguration ceremony of the Transfiere  Forum was attended by, among other personalities, the Undersecretary of Industry and the Director of the OEPM, and by the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the General Secretary of Innovation. Likewise, the Junta de Andalucía and the Málaga City Council participated.

On the other hand, transfers account with the participation of representatives of the scientific and academic world of Universities, Technological Platforms and public and private Research Centers, who took advantage of this opportunity to position their technological advances in the market.

In the words of the Undersecretary, Pablo Garde, “the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism has been firmly committed over the years to making innovation the central axis of industry and entrepreneurship in Spain. A clear example of this has been the promotion of the Strategic Projects for Economic Recovery and Transformation (PERTE). In addition, the protection of industrial property, provided by the SPTO, is an essential instrument to achieve this purpose”.

Innovation and entrepreneurship, promoted by the public sector, are, in short, the absolute protagonists of this Fair.
