Visits to the SPTO

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO), as a dynamic, open office committed to education, has promoted various activities in this field.

Specifically, over the last few weeks we have had the pleasure of welcoming different groups of students to our headquarters.

The youngest to visit the SPTO were 4th year ESO (Secondary School) students from six schools. Their stay was part of the Community of Madrid's 4thESO+Enterprise program, the aim of which is to help young people to be better prepared to make decisions about their academic and professional future, motivating them and providing them with the necessary skills.

During their three-day stay at the SPTO, we tried to give these students a view as close as possible of our office and our work and, on the other hand, we talked to them about basic concepts of industrial property, giving them a practical understanding of patents, trademarks and industrial designs.

On the other hand, students from the Universidad Francisco Marroquín visited the SPTO and attended an informative talk on the importance of the protection of inventions and the protection of distinctive signs at the SPTO.

Students from the Suffolk University also visited us and were given a talk in which, together with practical cases, they clarified the value of protecting inventions and the importance of registering distinctive signs.
