For most procedures, it is necessary to pay a fee and submit documentation through the SPTO e-Office or in paper format. For other procedures, only the fee is required, e.g. patent annuities.
Depending on the chosen filing method (electronic or hard copy), there are a number of payment methods available.
Types of electronic payment:
CaixaBank gateway (electronic banking of the entity collaborating with the SPTO): it is necessary to have a current account with CaixaBank and a "Línea Abierta" contract.
Spanish State Tax Administration Agency (AEAT) gateway. you must have a digital certificate or electronic ID, the holder of which must be the same as the holder of the current account you wish to make the payment from. You can use a number of banks that collaborate with the AEAT.
Credit/debit card: can be used for all processing fees, except for patent and utility model annuity fees, supplementary protection certificate maintenance fees and international PCT application fees.

All fee payments are associated with a barcode that is unique to each fee. Therefore, you need to complete a payment form for every fee to be paid.
