World Intellectual Property Day'Reach for Gold: IP and Sports' We have been celebrating every April 26th the World Intellectual Property Day since 2000, this initiative was propelled by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in order to spread the role of IP rights in innovation and creativity promotion. The present edition, launched under the motto 'Reach for Gold: IP and Sports', took a closer look inside the world of sports and the universal values that they encompass: excellence, respect and fair play. Faster, stronger, higher! The drive to test our abilities, the thrill of competition and the awe we experience watching ordinary people to achieve extraordinary feats, have fueled our fascination with sports for thousands of years. As it should be, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) supported such a noble cause intensifying its program of spreading activities on April 26th and the previous weeks. Furthermore, the Office has scheduled several activities for the subsequent weeks to explain how IP rights can be helpful for a sector where multiple actors with interrelated interests are concentrated. All particulars can be consulted at the following link: The main event organized this year by the SPTO on the occasion of the World IP Day was the free itinerant exhibition 'Reach for Gold: Industrial and Intellectual Property and Sports' aimed to show the existing relation between Sports and Industrial Property. The exhibition was shown in April from 23rd to 26th and it will be reopened to public visit between April 30th and June 15th 2019 (Monday – Friday: from 9:00h to 19:00h; Saturday: from 9:00h to 13:00h) at the lobby of the SPTO headquarters (Paseo de la Castellana 75, Madrid). In addition, the hosting of this itinerant exhibition can be requested by sending an email to the account areadifusion@oepm.es. Why not?
